Week 6 Reflection

What: On Wenseday chinese students had come to our class to learn about english and what we do as New Zealanders. We had a buddy each. My buddys name was Shine. He wasn't much of a talker or didn't play much sport. That was a shame because I was going to play a game of basketball with him. After lunch he showed me how to write my name in chinese and showed me numbers in chinese up to 16 and taught me how to say it. Today instead of going to the gym, me, Caleb and Te Paerangi went to Room 2 because we hadn't payed and plus I got hacked in the foot with a hockey stick at U11 reps for hockey. It really hurt. Yesterday we had buddy art. Our Habit of mind is gathering data through all senses. The five senses are smell, hear, look, taste and touch.

So What: I learnt how to count in chinese up to 16. I learnt how to control a 6 year old so they don't go crazy with the paint.

Now What: I want to learn how to count up to 30 in chinese numbers.

Nocturnal Animals

Most owls are nocturnal animals, which means they are mostly active at night. Because they are active in the dark, they need keen eye sight and hearing.

Birds of Prey

Owls are birds of prey like  felcon's and hawk's.That means they hunt small animals such as mice, birds and other insects. Some owls even catch fish in water. Often, an owl will _swallow an animal whole. But since it can’t digest the bones, it will regurgitate them. These regurgitated bits of food are called pellets.

Owl Feathers

Owls are stealthy hunters. They have special
feathers that help to keep them quiet when they flap their wings. Owl feathers are usually brown and grey, which helps to  camouflage them in the forest. Because owls are so silent and hidden, their prey doesn’t know the owls are coming until it’s too late.

Fall
Fall, which is also called Autumn is the season when the leaves change color and fall to the ground. In North America, it is also the season when kids head back to school.

The Weathers

Fall begins with warm weather in september ,but as the season continues into october and _november, the sun sets earlier and earlier everyday and the weather becomes chilly. And so, people put away their shorts and t-shirts and take out their sweaters and coats.

The Harvest

In fall, farmers are busy working in their fields. They have to harvest their crops before the cold of winter comes.  pumpkins, now big and orange, are ready for making pies. Corn quickly ripens on the cob. Wine makers pick their plump, juicy, purple grapes from the vine. Scarecrows  stand guard in the fields to keep the crows from stealing the crops before the farmers can gather them.

The Country

If you are fortunate, you can visit the country in the fall and see the spectacular foliage on the trees as the leaves change to red, orange, brown, and yellow . Overhead, birds are migrating, heading south to their winter homes.
