Nocturnal Animals Most owls are nocturnal animals, which means they are mostly active at night. Because they are active in the dark, they need keen eye sight and hearing. Birds of Prey Owls are birds of prey like  felcon's and hawk's.That means they hunt small animals such as mice,birds and other insects.Some owls even catch fish in water.
